Senior Policy Analyst

Solutions By Design II, LLC (SBD) is looking for a talented full-time Senior Policy Analyst to collaborate on a team of software developers and data analysts in the area of Health. Applicants will aid in constructing a data warehouse for the troves of quantified information tracking lifestyle, health decisions, health care, and health payments as it relates to injury, disease, recovery, and wellness.

The ideal candidate will be analytical, detail driven, and possess excellent problem-solving skills. Your passion, talent, and interest are equally as important as your technical background.

Responsibilities include:
  • Perform evaluative studies to analyze the substantive effect of regulations policy issues.
  • Conducts analysis of regulation policy issues in assigned areas of interest
  • Work collaboratively and transparently with Policy team and within Legal team to ensure alignment between priorities and public policy goals
  • Anticipate challenges/obstacles as the public policy landscape evolves
  • Effect change and drive policy making that benefits our customers
  • Perform quality assurance of work products to ensure data integrity
  • Adheres to and Advocates the requirements of IT Privacy and Security Policies and Procedures
 

To be considered for this role, candidates must have:
  • 3+ years (mid) or 10+ years (senior) progressively increasing experience
  • Candidates must demonstrate strong oral and written communications and be able to work in fast-paced, Agile team environment.
  • Demonstrated success in building meaningful and productive relationships with colleagues, customers and business partners.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data effectively
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to create factual and easily understandable deliverables for relevant audiences
  • Ability to synthesize policy documents for internal and external customers
  • Ability to think critically, process data from multiple sources, forecast potential scenarios, prioritize based on probability and desired outcome, and recommend a best course of action.

  • Self-starter who can take general direction and produce specific results
  • Can manage a diverse workload while supporting a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to pass a CMS-specific Public Trust background investigation
 

Required skills and experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Management, Health Policy, Public Policy, Public Health, Political Science, or related field
  • 3+ years of related experience
  • Strong skills in advocacy and using spoken and written rhetoric to persuade and inform
  • Strong program management and organization skills
  • Excellent research skills – both legal, regulatory, and policy oriented – with the ability to discern factual, factually-relevant, and persuasive details and sources
  • Familiarity with CMS and the Affordable Care Act
 

Desired skills and experience:
  • Juris Doctor or Master’s Degree in Health Management, Health Policy, Public Policy, Public Health, Political Science, or related field
  • Prior experience supporting Federal agencies including HHS, CMS or other health IT business domain.
  • Knowledge and experience with CMS-specific lifecycles a plus (e.g., XLC).
  • Understand basic fundamentals of iterative development
  • Understand basic fundamentals of software development processes and procedures
  • Understand incremental delivery and the value of metrics
  • Familiarity with common Agile practices, service-oriented environments, and better development practices
