Junior Data Analyst

SBD is seeking a Junior Data Analyst to join our team in support of our Federal Health IT customer at our office in Baltimore, MD.
 The responsibilities of the Data Analyst will include:
  • Provide analytics support for the team and processes that support the quality, integrity, and transparency of data integrated from multiple data sources
  • Ensure timely and thorough data review of incoming source files, implementation extracts, ad hoc datasets, and Medicare data
  • Responsible for assisting Lead Research Scientist in the maintenance and evolution of methodologies and models used for automated and manual data dissemination procedure
  • Validate initiatives to establish a standard data model, and best practices for data flow and interpretation
  • Facilitate tracking, communication, escalation, and triaging of claims and reference data issues that arise
  • Support project initiatives in producing descriptive statistics for written analysis and hypothesis testing
  • Support a team of analysts to scale and complete data management, in order to serve downstream business needs (reporting, outcomes, and book of business)


Position Requirements:
  • 1+ Years of experience analyzing and manipulating large data sets
  • 1 to 2 years of experience using data analytic tools for management, dissemination, and reporting in a relational database for business needs
  • Basic experience using data analytics programming language (SAS-preferred); SQL desired but not required
  • Bachelor’s Degree along with 1-2 years of professional experience
  • All applicants must have lived in the US for at least the last 3 consecutive years
  • Must be able to pass a CMS-specific background investigation


Desired Experience:
  • Experience supporting analytical data projects across functional teams
  • Experience with data manipulation with SAS and retrieving data from large databases with SQL, or similar data access, manipulations and statistical analysis tools
  • Experience analyzing and manipulating medical claims, pharmacy claims, and eligibility data
  • Experience developing, implementing, testing and maintaining automated and manual QA processes
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to interact with and influence decision-making by non-analytical business audiences
  • Strengths in data issue root cause analysis, with accountability over resolution development and execution
