Forensics Analyst

SBD is looking for a Forensics Analyst to join us in support of our federal customer in NW Washington, DC. The Forensics Analyst will examine digital media in a forensically sound manner with the aim of identifying, preserving, recovering, analyzing and presenting facts and opinions about the digital information. The technical aspect of an investigation is divided into several sub-branches, relating to the type of digital devices involved; computer forensics, network forensics, forensic data analysis and mobile device forensics. The typical forensic process encompasses the seizure, forensic imaging (acquisition) and analysis of digital media and the production of a report into collected evidence.

Requirements:
  • Follow process and procedures in retrieving, recovering, and preserving electronic evidence
  • Perform digital forensic acquisitions, electronic evidence collections and forensic analysis
  • Test, install, and maintain forensic tools and network between the forensic recovery of evidence (FRED) workstations
  • Document incident investigations and case analysis in accordance with DHS Policy
  • Assist in data gathering for all eDiscovery, FOIA or Request for Service requests
  • Conduct Full-Scope mobile forensic examinations, perform logical/ physical acquisition and analysis, and perform large data set analysis and target language keyword searches
  • Assist in forensic examinations of mobile device media with the goal of developing forensically sound evidence
  • Utilize experience and knowledge of a wide variety of advanced digital technologies and theories to conduct analysis of submitted evidence
  • Skill and ability in managing multiple concurrent activities of varying complexity, including changing priorities and short turn-around times
  • Possess strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment
  • Work with other analysts in technical examinations, analyzing and reporting on computer-based evidence
  • Conduct research on emerging cyber threats, methods, processes, cyber warfare techniques and offensive capabilities
  • Follow strict data and evidence handling procedures
  • Assist the incident response process as the escalation point for matters requiring forensics support
  • Prepare and maintain case files and write reports with attention to detail and completeness
  • Produce high quality written work product, presenting complex technical matters clearly and concisely
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Possess excellent problem solving and organizational skills
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD TS/SCI Clearance or the ability to obtain one
  • Must be able to obtain an agency-specific public trust clearance
  • Must have a CISSP AND one of the following:
    • SANS Advanced Network Forensics and Analysis
    • GIAC Network Forensics Analyst
    • GIAC reverse Engineering Malware
    • Other comparable certification


Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Experience with EnCase, FTK, SOLO Image Master or other static forensic tools:
  • Experience with FireEye, Microsoft ATA, Splunk, Exabeam, Stealthwatch, and McAfee
  • Debugging and Debugger experience using tools such as: ollydbg, winbd, and immunitydg; disassembling/diassemblers experience using IDA Pro
