Senior Java Programmer

SBD is seeking a Sr. Java Programmer to join our team in support of our federal customer in Falls Church, VA.   The Sr. Java Programmer will be responsible for O&M and modernization/consolidation of our client’s large-scale application used by 60k+ individuals. The application is hosted on a Red Hat Linux distributed platform, utilizing Micro Focus Enterprise Server (MFES) for mainframe emulation.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintenance of existing Java code.
  • Maintain interfaces with external systems.
  • Perform and document systems analysis, design, configuration and testing.
  • Advise, plan, execute, and manage systems upgrades and updates.
  • Provide experience and best practices related to O&M support.
  • Analyze, design, and implement modifications as required to ensure the system remains current with the most recent Payroll and Human Resources Management policies, collective bargaining agreement (CBA) guidance, and other mandates as appropriate.
  • Support, troubleshoot, and modify as necessary the Java-based Security Application, which facilitates privileged users’ ability to reset passwords and grant emergency access. This consists of approximately 3,000 lines of code running in a Tomcat environment.
  • Support DevOps environment for automation of testing and source code migration. Current DevOps environment consists of Atlassian’s BitBucket and Jenkins.
  • Support system interfaces and data exchanges with internal and external systems, employing a variety of technologies including but not limited to Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP), Connect:Direct and web services (SOAP and REST). Currently, there are ~12 interfaces, including external and internal.
  • Support O&M for operational fixes and routine maintenance including training, security, audits, and enterprise architecture compliance.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in support of modernization efforts where input is needed regarding program logic, business rules driving that logic, and constraints related to program execution and calculations.


Requirements:
  • 10 plus years of experience in system development with Java programming language.
  • Familiarity with Spring, JDBC, Hikari data pooling, Oracle Unified Directory (OUD) integration, Netscape LDAP API, and Tomcat embedded server.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of the Systems Engineering Life Cycle from Requirements through Operations and Maintenance.
  • Experience building SOAP/REST web services
  • Experienced in writing unit test cases for both client and server using frameworks like Junit and/or Selenium.
  • Experienced in any of the Git code repository GitHub/GitLab/BitBucket
  • Knowledge on Continuous Integration and Continuous deployment process. Familiarity with Jenkins Release Management tool
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Must either currently possess or be able to favorably pass a full 5- year background investigation (BI), inclusive of criminal and financial history.
  • Must be able to work from the customer site in Falls Church, VA.
