Sr. User Experience Analyst/Designer

SBD is seeking a Sr. User Experience Analyst/Designer to join an exciting modernization project for our federal client at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The project team will be responsible for developing and supporting a custom developed web-enabled system based on an established business process. The role requires very strong and effective verbal and written communication skills. The role requires regular interaction with a large diverse group of system users, the program client, and the development teams. This might include one-on-one interaction or presentations in front of a large group.                
 
The Sr. User Experience Analyst/Designer organizes, facilitates, and participates in various user engagement activities, such stakeholder workgroups, user group meetings, conferences, webinars, and other communications with users and the client. This role will support the development and update of documentation such as a user engagement plan and the stakeholder engagement plan. This role will be part of small team focused on user interaction and developing user journey maps, user stories, and epics to support Agile development. The individual may also interface with help desk staff to identify trends and common issues that require resolution and/or items added to the product backlog.
 
Reporting to and working with the agile development team, you will own and lead specific customer engagements implementing redesigned customer developed application for CMS. You must have the maturity, confidence, and experience to manage and partner with users as well as the willingness, energy and technical ability to roll up your sleeves and work directly with the development team.
 
Key Tasks Include:
  • Participate in multiple workgroups, including documenting outcomes
  • Develop strong customer and end user relationships that enable SBD to become a trusted advisor for our client and system users
  • Facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT)
  • Provide business acumen to the client and users while striving to understand the business problem we are solving to best configure the solution and exceed customer expectations.
  • Manage engagement team activities (creating journey maps, interview materials, user documentation such as user guides, job aides, influence system screen language, emails communications, etc.) and oversee completion of deliverables, managing schedules, meeting milestones, and ensuring technical success.
 
Skills/Qualifications (Required):
  • To be considered for this role, candidates must have:
    • 3+ years progressively increasing experience within software development environment
    • 2+ years experience in Agile delivery
  • Candidates must demonstrate strong oral and written communications and be able to work in fast-paced, highly collaborative Agile team environment.
  • Demonstrated success in building meaningful and productive relationships with colleagues, customers and business partners.
  • Required Skills:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications (e.g., PowerPoint)
    • Human-Centered Design
    • Design Thinking
    • Service Design
    • Ethnographic Research
    • Synthesis (Insights, Journey Map)
    • Prototyping (Low-fidelity), preferred but not required

  • All applicants shall have lived in the United States for at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years

Technical Skills:

  • Experience working on a large (50+) team
  • Prior experience supporting Federal agencies including HHS, CMS or other health IT business domain.
  • Knowledge and experience with CMS-specific lifecycles a plus (e.g., XLC).
